so a while ago, i finally cashed in a savings bond i'd received as an infant. (the keypunch holes amused me to no end)
with the funds i went and splurged on a drum carder, and last night i carded me up some soysilk, angora, purple silk, grey superwash merino, and a little bit of firestar. my original plan had been to match it up with the 2 ply laceweight angora/silk/little bit of wool that i had spun from a 1 oz batt i picked up at MDSW in '06. but alas, this stuff seems to want to be a bit thicker. and i'm not really feeling the soysilk. oh well. it's coming out a nice muted pastel purple, and very heathered, since i knocked it out before running out the door to go to my thursday night fiber fun. i finished up the brown stuff i started at the MDSW (spinning by campfire is fun, but nearly impossible to see what you're doing.) now i just need to figure out what to do with it. i am thinking about plying it with some other similar color wool since i don't have much.

Dragons!
i managed to get a glimpse of the dragon scarf from morehouse merino while at the MDSW and have managed to figure out the spikes enough to make a reasonable facsimile. while their yarn is nice, i was not terribly interested in purchasing a pattern with yarn that i don't want. i don't want a green (or even a red) dragon, i need a PURPLE dragon.
and here she is:
so far, i'm pretty happy, though i think i'm going to run out of yarn. i also think i need to rip back a bit and and narrow it a bit in the mid-body. it's a good 2 1/2 feet, but given what yarn i have left, it's not quite enough. oh well. this merino is surprisingly good at being re-knit.

still with the blockage. everything i've recently come up with has been awful. like the sock that was so biased in one direction, that i don't even think blocking would've done it. (though, maybe i'm underestimating blocking. it does work near-miracles.)

ack.
i appear to have knitter's block.
but it is cool enough outside that i can wear my most recent socks.
